The Cronos blockchain is set to undergo a significant evolution with its v1.5 'Smarturn' upgrade, scheduled for October 30, 2025. This update introduces major enhancements to the Cronos EVM mainnet, including support for EIP-7702, which enables smart account flexibility for decentralized applications and users.

Technical improvements span new ethereum opcodes, a faster mempool, and upgraded IBC v2 architecture for cross-chain performance. The upgrade aims to bolster developer experience and interoperability, reinforcing Cronos' position as a scalable Ethereum-compatible ecosystem.

Node operators will soon receive a detailed guide with target block height and migration instructions. The upgrade reflects Cronos' commitment to meeting demand for high-performance blockchain infrastructure.
